    1. The fine print: “*For sanitation purposes, please do not place a service animal into a shopping cart.*”

    2. Miniature Horses can do most of the same mobility things dogs can do but live twice as long. The most expensive part of getting a service animal is the training so the longer they live the longer the training is good for the cheaper they are overall.

    3. Miniature horses are recognized as service animals under the Americans With Disabilities Act.

I’m sorry but I’m going to need to see a miniature horse service animal please…

These should have been in every business in America when this trend started. I don’t have a problem with someone having an animal to help with their anxiety. But you can’t bring your emotional support rhesus monkey in the store while you shop. (Actual “emotional support” animal brought into our store.)

    6. That’s because only dogs and miniature horses are recognized as service animals by the ADA

    7. ADA defines “service animal” as dog or miniature horse. Cats, iguanas, hamsters, rabbits and komodo dragons need not apply

FWIW, the limitations on service animals in public areas are pretty tight. The animal needs to be under the person’s control at all times unless specifically performing a task, eg no wandering saying hello to everyone. No disruptive behavior (repeated barking at others is given as an example). These are ground for removal. There does not have to be over aggressive or dangerous behavior.

I don’t blame them for having to do a full clarification. My MIL literally paid to have her puppy registered as an “emotional support animal” solely so she can take it wherever she wants. The thing barks at everyone and poops and pees on the floor. The selfish people ruin it for everyone else.

    9. Good to see more places fighting back. Keep your pets at home people! Unless you’re going to the vet or a pet store.

ADA limits service animals to dogs and miniature horses. This sign is just stating that they will follow the law in granting access to service animals, but not for the emotional support peacock. Emotional support is not a mitigation for a disability.

    11. Miniature horses are much stronger than dogs, so they are a good option for adults with mobility issues. Dogs cannot support much weight without getting injured.

    12. Mini horses live a lot longer and are also better as mobility support. Less and less people are recommending using dogs for mobility support as they’re really not built for it and it can wear them down quicker. I’ve seen videos of mini horses working but never in person.

    13. Can they be indoor trained like dogs can? I always thought if people could trained to not poop everywhere, it’d be more common

Miniature horses can preform many of the same functions as dogs and have backing by major organizations

Here in Santa Monica the local buses used to have a sign in them about this! Never saw one, though.

    16. Because miniature horses are defined under the ADA as service animals if they have received training and certification.

    17. Well yeah. Miniature horses are used for illness with mobility problems because they are sturdier than a dog. I looked into getting one.

    18. Yes, they are very smart, they live a long time, and there are people who are allergic to dogs and need a service animal.

In my Jurisdiction the Law for Service animals explicitly states that the only applicable animals are dogs and Miniature horses. This appears to reflect that.
